S.N. Mitter Eye Charitable Trust
Our charitable trust was set up in the name of Dr SN Mitter, B.Sc., M.B.B.S, DOMS (Lond), who was Dr Hari Mohan’s teacher, mentor and guide. Dr Mitter was the Hony. Ophthalmic Surgeon to the first president of India. He was HOD of Ophthalmology at King George’s Medical College in Lucknow. He later joined Irwin Hospital as Senior Ophthalmic surgeon and then started his private practice.
This wing has an independent OPD and in-patient facility. The OPD has a waiting lounge for 30 patients with two well equipped examination chambers.
It offers the following services:
- Examination in the OPD
- Admission in the indoor ward
- All types of ophthalmic surgeries including materials like IOLs, Silicone bands etc.
- Super specialty service – Consultation / Diagnostic / Therapeutic
- Pathological tests in the clinical laboratory
- Spectacle frames on a no-profit and no-loss basis
The wing also offers rural services. Free eye camps are held every year in and around Delhi, and those requiring surgery are operated free of cost.

We accept donations from individuals, corporates or other trusts, in the name of the S.N Mitter Charitable Trust. Donations will be eligible for 50% tax exemption under Section 80 G of Income Tax act.
